New York Times Article on Digital Downtime

I think this is an interesting article on tech fatigue-- and that it might impact learning.

  1. this is really interesting. I do not have an iPhone or Blackberry, or even and iPod touch for that matter, and just bought the simplest phone at Verizon because I couldn't buy a semi-fancy one without having to pay extra money each month to use the internet. For now I am happy to not have the internet on my phone, though sometimes I wish I did for useful things such as being able to look up a movie, directions, places to eat, etc. when I'm not near my computer. For now, my phone is just a phone, and that helps me not be the terribly anti-social person who is constantly clicking away while I am catching up with friends, out to dinner or drinks. I think if I had an iPhone I would love it, but I have a MacBook, and isn't it pretty much the same thing but smaller? And I know I would spend too much time on an iPhone, so for now it's self preservation. But the digital world is advancing fast...and I'm sure soon enough a smart-phone will have to be a part of my existence.
